CAST

KARMA RAE – Sarah

Karma Rae has been acting since she was a young child; she was always involved in the school productions and she continued to pursue her passion into high school where she graduated top of her class with drama as one of her subjects. While in high school, she not only participated in, but helped choreograph a well-known dance and theatrical performance in New Zealand called ‘Stage Challenge’ for 2 years. After high school, she went onto study both theatre and film at New Zealand's prestigious University of Canterbury, where she received her Bachelor of Arts with majors in Theatre, Film and English. Since the age of 15, Karma has had agents in San Francisco and New Zealand; now she is with Reality Check Management in London. She has been in various photographic stills including billboards for the University of Canterbury and brochures for the Prince's Charity Trust. She has also been in commercials for companies such as Peugeot, Nokia and Diagio. Karma also has credits with various TV shows and short films.
Because of Karma's long history with gymnastics, she also brings to the industry unique acrobatic skills. She still maintains her fitness and is currently a member of the London Rockets cheerleading squad and is also a part of their national champion hip-hop dance group. She continues to develop professional skills associated with the industry such as accent training and BADC accredited Stage Combat.

DAN STYLES – Mr Simkin

Dan has been acting since the age of 14, starting at the Alhambra Academy of Dance and Drama in Merseyside. At 18 he decided to pursue his career seriously and take the big step to move to London. He hasn’t looked back since.
Dan is a versatile performer as an actor/singer/dancer/stage fighter. He has performed in roles both straight and comic for stage, radio, film and TV.
His career has taken him on the QE2 and in London’s West End. Notable credits include Oliver Warbucks in ‘Annie’, Mr Toad, in ‘The Wind in the Willows’, Abanazar in ‘Aladdin’, Rodolpho in ‘A View from the Bridge’ and a variety of soldiers in ‘Oh What a Lovely War’.

DANIEL STILWELL (Freestyle Productions) – Writer/Co-Producer

Dan discovered an interest in writing in Drama lessons at school. He continued into college, studying media, and got to produce, write, direct, shoot, record, and edit various productions for film, TV and radio. Outside of college he got together with a group of like minded filmmakers and they made many shorts and sketches in their own time.
Dan continued to write after college and his scripts have been used in both TV and radio broadcasts. Recently he won a competition in comedy writing for his sketch in ITV’s ‘Shoot the Writers’.
Dan has been a theatrical producer’s assistant for the past 7 years and has been partially responsible for 9 musical productions and 6 Pantomimes.
In 2006 Dan set up Freestyle Productions as he wanted to create a way to showcase young and undiscovered talent. ‘Detention’ is his second short film and was produced under the collaborative banner of ‘Short Shorts’.

ROSIE ANDREWS – Co-Producer

MAX LEWENDELL – Director

In 2004 Max Lewendel founded The Icarus Theatre Collective (www.icarustheatre.co.uk) where he directs most of their plays. The Finborough Theatre commissioned Max to direct James Graham’s Albert’s Boy (which won the Pearson Playwright Award) starring Tony Award winner Victor Spinetti. Max also directed Coyote Ugly (no relation to the film) and co-produced the British premiere of Frank McGuinness’ Gates of Gold for the Finborough, both Time Out Critics’ Choice. He is developing a World Premiere of Philip Ridley’s next play and directing two mid-scale tours in 2009: Othello & Nicholas Wright’s Vincent in Brixton. Last year Max directed an international tour of Ionesco's The Lesson which transferred to the Assembly Rooms, Old Red Lion Theatre, and Romania.  He also co-directed Engage's production of Lost Children in September which tours East Anglia, Holland, and Kenya.

At Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, Max completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis on directing and minors in French Language and Business Administration.

Look forward to the first screening of the trailer as well as scenes from the film.
